Christmas Day Deja Vu

Well, December 25, here we are again.  The Christmas meals are consumed; the Reece's peanut butter bells are gone.  Seems like there is something else I should be doing....hmmmmm...oh yes, time to get out the DASH Diet book and start the annual diet.

Yesterday I had my annual well woman check up.  Blood pressure...124/80.  Cholesterol...158 (with the help of Lipitor)...Glucose...100 (at the top of the "normal" fasting range).  Weight...I really don't want to go there.  It was no worse than last year, but to me, at age 51, I know the effects of weighing over 200 lbs. will start to affect me physically. And soon.  Will it be the knees? Hips? Diabetes?

My doctor asked me if I had any general concerns.  YES, I AM OBESE.  She doesn't seem to be too worried. She asked "do you exercise?"  NO.  I KNOW ALL THE RIGHT THINGS TO DO.  I JUST DON'T DO THEM.  WHY, WHY, WHY?  She suggested a program through Cox Health called "Fit for Life."  I'm going to look in to it. I need help, I know I need help.

So, my hope by writing this blog I will be more accountable to myself.  We'll see...
